Privacy.
Plain English. This is what we keep, why, for how long, and where.
Who we are
Unspoken is run by UM Limited, trading as Unspoken Cards (NZBN 9429030519329). We decide what happens to your details, so we are responsible for them. 741 West Coast Road, Oratia, Auckland 0604, New Zealand. Write to whisper@unspoken.cards.
What we keep
When you send a card: your first name, email, mobile and country. Her first name and her email.
When you ask for news on a card page: your email and country, and your first name if you give it.
When you join the Kickstarter list: your email and country, and your first name and mobile if you give them. We keep the mobile only if you tick the box for texts.
For every yes, we keep the words you agreed to, when, where on the site, and a scrambled code made from your internet address. Then the time you confirmed it.
When you sign in: a session that lasts 12 hours, and a record each time you change what we send you.
Your free card: scrambled codes of your email, your mobile and your browser, so each person sends one free card. The codes can't be turned back into your details. We keep them after you delete your account, so the card stays used.
Why
To deliver the card you chose, by email. We don't send texts yet. When we do, we'll ask you first.
Offers and Kickstarter news go only to people who ticked a box and then tapped the link we emailed. Email and texts are separate choices. Boxes are never ticked for you.
If an email to you bounces or is marked as spam, we stop emailing that address.
Her details deliver that one card. She never gets offers from us unless she signs up herself.
How long
Her details are deleted 30 days after the card is sent. Yours stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Where
Your details are stored with Amazon Web Services in Auckland, New Zealand, encrypted. Emails go out through Amazon in Sydney, Australia.
If you live outside New Zealand, your details travel there to be stored. New Zealand's privacy law is recognised by the European Union and the United Kingdom as giving adequate protection.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can see, download, correct or delete what we hold. You can say no to offers at any time.
Sign in to download your data, change what we send you, or delete your account. Or email us and we will reply within 20 working days.
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and it works straight away. When texts start, every text will end with a stop link, or reply STOP.
You can also complain to the privacy regulator where you live. In New Zealand that is the Privacy Commissioner.
